Requirements
- Engineering/software development experience within a Platform group delivering services to internal engineering teams
- Experience working in a cloud environment
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform/Crossplane
- Familiarity with Kubernetes administration
- Experience/Interest in implementing, integrating, and maintaining observability systems and processes
- Enjoy working with engineers and management structures
- Comfortable working in a remote-first company with collaborative, friendly, kind, and respectful communication
- Eager to learn and grow
- Approach development holistically, owning the full life cycle of code
- Flexible software engineer, capable of responding to incidents, integrating systems, or designing new systems
- Experience with operating your code
- Proficiency in Go (primary language), but flexibility to choose the best tool
Responsibilities
- Help internal engineers release software onto infrastructure in secure and measurable ways
- Lead automation of release processes (CI/CD, bootstrapping)
- Help internal engineering teams get on board with 'golden path' techniques
- Help with edge cases and ensure teams maximize tool usage
- Set the squad's roadmap and contribute to the process
- Maintain, improve, and extend existing systems
- Choose what to focus on next and when/how to gracefully sunset systems
- Design, compare, and choose appropriate solutions for Internal Engineering Platform (IEP) development and maintenance
- Manage and develop CI/CD platform
- Automate build, release, and deployment
- Manage application configuration tooling
- Automate "up to date" software
- Manage artefact management
- Work with diverse internal teams (application development, security) to support implementation of their requirements
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support Platform tooling
