Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in payroll, benefits, or a related function
  • Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals, including taxes, deductions, and compliance basics
  • Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS tools
  • Exposure to international payroll
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills (e.g., lookups)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (CEFR C2 or equivalent)
  • Experience in a high-growth or distributed company (ideally)
  • Remote.com experience (plus)
  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll requirements in the U.S. (bonus)
  • Exposure to benefits compliance (ACA, COBRA, etc.) (bonus)

Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end payroll processing across multiple states and countries using Remote
  • Review and validate timekeeping data, including hours worked and PTO, ensuring accuracy before payroll runs
  • Process payroll changes including new hires, compensation updates, terminations, bonuses, and adjustments
  • Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.), including enrollments and life event changes
  • Manage contractor lifecycle operations, including agreements (SOWs), onboarding, and invoice schedules
  • Coordinate offboarding processes, including system updates, benefits terminations, and cross-functional alignment
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to payroll and benefits, and support internal documentation and process improvements
