Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in video game industry in a similar role.
  • Profound understanding of user interface and user experience design principles, including user-centered design, usability, and accessibility.
  • Proficiency in using design and prototyping tools like Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Figma, or similar software.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 (UMG, Blueprints) for UI integration, interactive logic, and interface optimization.
  • Knowledge of accessibility guidelines and best practices.
  • Ability to prioritize user needs and create designs that enhance the overall user experience.
  • Proficiency in communicating ideas through visual elements and graphics.
  • Willingness to stay updated on the latest UI/UX design trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Submission of a portfolio showcasing strongest UI work (images or a link to website/online portfolio).

Responsibilities

  • Create visually stunning and user-friendly interfaces that match the game's theme and narrative, ensuring a seamless and immersive player experience.
  • Develop intuitive and efficient menus, navigation systems, and in-game HUDs that enhance player engagement and ease of use.
  • Design clear and effective icons, symbols, and visual cues to help players understand game mechanics, objectives, and feedback.
  • Advocate for and implement accessibility features to make the game accessible to all players, including colorblind modes, text-to-speech support, or customizable controls.
  • Work closely with game designers, artists, programmers, and other team members to ensure that UI/UX design aligns with the game's overall vision and mechanics.
  • Create comprehensive design documents, wireframes, and style guides to communicate design concepts and guidelines to the development team and ensure long-term consistency.
  • Integrate UI assets directly into Unreal Engine 5 using UMG (Unreal Motion Graphics), Blueprints, or other widget systems, in close collaboration with UI programmers.
  • Optimize the performance of user interfaces (draw calls, materials, widget hierarchy) to meet technical constraints.
