Senior Consultant, Data Governance (Atlan)

3–5 years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or related roles. Hands-on experience with data catalog/metadata tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra, Atlan, Purview). Exposure to data quality tools and processes (Informatica, Talend, Ataccama, or equivalent). Strong communication skills: able to facilitate workshops, write clear business documentation, and present to mixed audiences. Demonstrated ability to define and obtain alignment for definition, business rules and data quality controls. Familiarity with governance operating models and stewardship practices. Knowledge of privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and how governance practices support compliance. Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

Facilitate data governance working groups to drive alignment between business and technology stakeholders. Execute metadata management activities such as cataloging, lineage capture, and stewardship workflows. Partner with business teams to draft and maintain business rules, definitions, and data quality controls. Apply data quality processes such as profiling, monitoring, and issue management. Support the installation, configuration, rollout and adoption of governance/metadata tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Purview). Coach client staff on data stewardship practices. Communicate governance concepts in clear business language. Provide input on access controls, privacy, and compliance with regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.). Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business owners to embed governance into daily workflows. Install and configure metadata/catalog tools in client environments. Build and curate catalogs, including ingestion of technical metadata, business glossaries, and lineage. Define user personas and design role-appropriate experiences. Tailor tool UX (workflows, dashboards, search optimization) to improve usability and adoption. Configure governance workflows (e.g., DG asset approvals, stewardship assignments, issue tracking). Leverage and guide customers on AI-assisted features in modern tools. Partner with client IT teams to ensure tools are integrated into enterprise platforms and security models.
