Engineering Manager, AI Systems (Remote from North Carolina)

4 to 7 years of experience in engineering management, leading high-performing technical teams Recent hands-on engineering experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, Python, or Go Strong background in B2B SaaS product development and scalable cloud-based systems Demonstrated interest in AI and machine learning, with the ability to discuss current AI trends thoughtfully Experience working directly on AI-powered products or platforms Excellent communication skills and leadership presence, especially within distributed and remote teams Willingness to participate in stand-by, on-call, or off-hours duties as required

Lead a cross-functional AI product engineering team, owning strategy, execution, and delivery across multiple AI-powered experiences Define and drive the technical direction for AI systems, including inference backends, retrieval foundations, and user-facing AI capabilities Partner closely with AI research and model training teams to align on model capabilities, evaluation frameworks, and productionization paths Ensure high standards for reliability, performance, security, and token-cost efficiency of AI inference services Oversee infrastructure operations, including on-call rotations and operational readiness across cloud environments Operate in a player-coach model, spending approximately half of your time on hands-on engineering tasks
