PhD degree in computer science, information science, statistics, or a related technical field. Ability to work on problems with social and technical components in mixed method settings. Proficiency in Python for data analysis, manipulation, and machine learning model development. Experience with Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing tools. Understanding of Large Language Models and their applications in research. Ability to assess the scientific rigor of empirical research publications studying online communities. Contributions to research communities, including a strong record of scholarly publications and experience serving on program committees. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Responsibilities:
Contribute groundbreaking research on Wikipedia's core content policies, knowledge integrity, and model resilience. Evaluate existing research and press coverage on Wikipedia content. Conduct analyses and coordinate with cross-functional teams for incident response. Design and execute experiments for data collection, cleaning, analysis, and ML model development. Document and communicate research processes and results publicly. Engage with the Wikimedia research community to socialize team work. Actively participate in a collaborative, consensus-oriented, globally-distributed team. Provide research consulting to Wikimedia Foundation teams, affiliates, and volunteers.
