Senior Editor, Local Reporting Network

At least five years’ experience managing or leading complex investigations as a reporter or editor. Experience reporting or editing collaborative projects with strong communication and diplomacy skills. Experience juggling multiple projects and responsibilities; strong organizational skills. Ability to meet deadlines and handle pressure calmly. Editing range for various investigative storytelling formats (rolling, traditional, narrative, multimedia). Ability to help reporters overcome challenges. Interest in and experience teaching fact-checking, organization, interviewing, and other journalism skills. Ability to travel as needed.

Editing four to five reporters pursuing yearlong projects. Collaborating with partner newsrooms to execute stories in various forms (print, audio, video). Coordinating with ProPublica internal teams (research, data, engagement, etc.). Coaching journalists of varying experience levels. Developing proposals for future partnerships and participating in selection processes. Organizing occasional trainings for partners.
