Senior Accountant (for a Social Impact Company in the US)

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or foreign equivalent preferred) Significant accounting experience, must have been in a US-focused role Strong knowledge of US GAAP Familiarity with US Sales & Use Tax compliance Experience with Avalara, spend portals (e.g. Brex, Pleo, Spendesk etc), and equity accounting is an advantage Proven ability to handle monthly close and prepare complete reconciliation files Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets Able to manipulate and reconcile large data sets Comfortable working across time zones with a distributed team

Full-cycle accounting for the US entity Prepare monthly close to a high standard by Working Day 5 Maintain complete reconciliation files for every balance sheet account Process payroll-related accounting Ensure payroll data is correctly recorded and reconciled in the general ledger Support project cost tracking and allocations Monitor nexus and update Avalara records for US Sales & Use Tax Prepare and file sales tax returns Manage collection and storage of exemption certificates Identify applicable Use Tax transactions and manage MPU certificates Maintain working knowledge of state and local compliance Ensure all vendors have correct W-8/W-9 tax forms on file Prepare and issue 1099s annually Manage bank registrations and set up new accounts Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations Register payments for approval by CFO Monitor FX needs and register purchase orders in Citibank FX Prepare and update the weekly 13-week cash outflow forecast Work in Xledger ERP for all accounting processes Administer Brex portal for US virtual cards Work in Avalara for Sales Tax nexus monitoring and compliance Post equity-related accounting entries from Optiontrax
