Master's degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, International Relations, Science and Technology Studies, or related field; OR bachelor's degree with substantial relevant professional experience. Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough policy analysis and produce high-quality written outputs. Exceptional writing abilities with experience translating complex technical concepts into accessible language. Strong grasp of policy processes, political systems, and policy change strategies. Breadth of knowledge, curiosity, and literacy across sciences and physical technologies. Working knowledge of international relations frameworks and governance structures for emerging technology. Demonstrated understanding of AI safety concerns, systemic risks, and sociotechnical implications of AI. Self-directed with ability to manage complex projects remotely.

Conduct policy research on AI governance approaches. Assess societal vulnerabilities to advanced AI systems. Develop AI disaster scenario plans. Translate technical concepts into policy recommendations. Draft policy briefs, reports, and blog posts. Develop simulation materials for emergency response testing. Identify early warning indicators and cascade failures in AI governance. Map institutional dependencies in disaster response. Analyze civil defense frameworks for AI threats. Support advocacy initiatives and stakeholder relations.
