Requirements
- Have 3–5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an Accountant or similar role.
- Hold a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrate experience with month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Have a strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, GST, BAS, and taxation requirements.
- Have experience managing or supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general accounting functions.
- Have advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, data analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and spreadsheet management.
- Be proficient in Xero and confident working with other accounting and financial systems.
- Understand financial controls and reconciliation processes.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate discrepancies.
- A CPA qualification is desirable but not required.
- Experience in home care, aged care, healthcare, disability, or community services is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support month-end closing and financial reporting processes.
- Prepare and review journals, accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are correctly recorded.
- Prepare and analyse monthly financial and management reports, including explanations of financial variances.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with forecasting, budgeting, and ongoing variance analysis.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, fortnightly payroll, and payroll-related reconciliations.
- Assist with BAS, GST, year-end reporting, and other statutory and financial compliance requirements.
- Reconcile home care funding, claims, client contributions, and Support at Home financial transactions.
- Maintain financial controls and supporting documentation, and identify opportunities to improve finance processes.
- Assist external accountants and auditors and provide financial information to support management decisions.
