Requirements
- Have 5+ years of hands-on database engineering experience, with PostgreSQL required.
- Have 5+ years of experience working in an AWS or GCP cloud environment.
- Have 3+ years of high-level programming experience in Python or Go.
- Work with Kubernetes operators, specifically Zalando and CNPG.
- Have experience with Kafka or other distributed event streaming systems, ETLs, and CDC.
- Have strong database monitoring and database architecture experience.
- Have strong Kubernetes production experience.
- Have experience working with applications requiring compliance audits.
- Have experience supporting production issues and remediating them in a timely manner.
- Have experience building infrastructure as code, preferably with Terraform.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate database architectures and recommend improvements to maintain performance and availability.
- Work within agile Scrum and Kanban processes to support engineering efforts.
- Respond to database outages, triage incidents, and remediate database-related issues.
- Evaluate database schemas, partitions, views, and queries, and implement performance improvements.
- Manage and maintain database replication to support resilience and recovery from faults.
- Make database product choices and design decisions for AWS and GCP.
- Design database architecture for business continuity, backups, compute, network, and storage.
- Use Terraform and GitOps to automate infrastructure deployment and creation.
- Develop a common database design architecture that can be replicated for new installations.
