Requirements
- Have 3+ years of experience working with relational database systems.
- Have 1+ year of experience in a Database, SRE, or Engineering-related role.
- Have hands-on experience with SQL Server or PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Have experience working in a cloud environment such as AWS, GCP, or Azure; Azure is preferred.
- Have experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Have coding or automation experience with languages such as PowerShell, C#, SQL, Python, or Go.
- Have experience with source control systems such as Git.
- Have university or college education in Database Management, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Be available for some on-call or after-hours work.
- Experience with databases of 1+ TB, large database environments, Jira, Confluence, Grafana, ClickHouse, NoSQL databases, or AI tools and AI-assisted development or automation is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Monitor database metrics and ensure database objectives are met.
- Work with the DBA team to identify operational toil and implement automation and processes for managing database systems at scale.
- Use data-driven approaches to improve database performance and availability.
- Support Engineering and SRE teams with database migrations, query performance, and schema and design improvements.
- Troubleshoot database operations and performance, and perform root-cause analysis.
- Standardize configurations, deployment patterns, and operational processes across SQL Server and PostgreSQL platforms.
- Manage and prioritize operational tickets, incidents, service requests, and database maintenance.
