Requirements
- Bring 8–12 years of backend engineering experience, including senior- or staff-level experience leading large initiatives and influencing architecture across teams.
- Have staff-level experience as a hands-on individual contributor, owning scope, delivery, and tradeoffs for large, ambiguous initiatives.
- Have built and shipped financial, payments, or transactions systems where correctness matters.
- Demonstrate strong backend and API design judgment across middleware, GraphQL schemas, APIs, and data models.
- Have made and defended major architectural decisions, balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Have established or matured engineering practices such as unit testing, code review, documentation, or SDLC automation.
- Work effectively with Product, Design, and engineering peers to resolve complex cross-team decisions.
- Use AI tools in daily development work and have a point of view on applying AI to the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Contribute as a primary individual contributor on the Financial Operations team.
- Build and improve payments and transactions systems and integrations with Stripe, LayerFi, and Cherry.
- Work across middleware, backend architecture, GraphQL schemas, APIs, and data models.
- Deliver backend fixes and improvements to reliability, performance, and developer experience.
- Lead FinOps projects through design, architecture review, cross-functional collaboration, and launch.
- Develop technical proposals and guide architectural decisions from review through implementation.
- Own organization-level engineering initiatives, such as unit testing standards, documentation, code review, or SDLC improvements.
- Partner with Product, Design, engineering peers, and leadership to resolve decisions and communicate status, risks, and tradeoffs.
