Requirements
- Have previous software engineering experience with trading or exchange systems, such as OMS, EMS, exchanges, market making, algorithmic trading, or quant trading.
- Bring experience across frontend and backend development, databases, and distributed systems.
- Have coding skills in both low- and high-level languages, such as C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, or Python.
- Be able to optimize for low latency and high throughput.
- Have experience with messaging queues and message brokers.
- Understand algorithms, scalability, high availability, low-latency systems, and concurrency control.
- Have system design skills in object-oriented data modeling, service-oriented architectures, and system abstraction.
- Have experience developing and implementing Order Management Systems (OMS) and Risk Management Systems (RMS).
- Experience with lead responsibilities is preferred.
- Nice to have: algo trading, FIX protocol, observability, tracing, continuous profiling, benchmarking, financial markets, financial ledgers, statistical and quantitative analysis, cloud platforms, Docker, or Kubernetes.
Responsibilities
- Build Alpaca's algorithmic trading platform.
- Write code to deliver high-quality, high-performance brokerage services.
- Design and architect the platform.
- Make critical decisions about customer experience and platform delivery.
