Requirements
- Have 5+ years of backend engineering experience running Node.js in production.
- Have experience with highly scalable, distributed systems.
- Be comfortable working across backend application development and infrastructure deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
- Have familiarity with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Have experience with performance tuning.
- Have experience with production-grade PostgreSQL, including tuning and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrate ownership by driving projects end to end.
- Nice to have: prior experience working on developer tools.
- Nice to have: knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerization with Docker or Kubernetes.
- Nice to have: experience designing and operating large-scale file upload and download pipelines.
- Nice to have: CDN integration and optimization knowledge.
- Nice to have: experience with image and video processing tools such as sharp, dssim, or ffmpeg, and formats and codecs such as AVIF, WebM, or Brotli.
- Nice to have: experience with frontend technologies such as Next.js or React.
Responsibilities
- Improve the analytics bucket offering and storage for open file formats such as Iceberg and DuckDB.
- Optimize assets to speed delivery for websites and mobile applications.
- Build out the edge network to speed uploads and support features such as automatic cache invalidation.
- Improve the performance, observability, and reliability of the storage server.
- Work with the frontend team to build a fast storage explorer.
- Improve APIs, client libraries, and CLI to support the end-to-end developer experience.
- Resolve escalated support issues and identify and address systemic platform issues.
