Requirements
- At least 5 years of engineering experience, including a minimum of 4 years in a Platform Engineer role.
- Strong expertise managing, securing, and optimizing AWS infrastructure.
- Hands-on Redis and MongoDB experience, including configuration, monitoring, performance optimization, and backup management.
- Expertise with Infrastructure as Code, particularly OpenTofu and Terragrunt.
- Experience with deployment and release management and CI/CD practices and tools.
- Practical production-infrastructure security experience, including least-privilege access, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and security monitoring.
- Ability to apply security and compliance requirements to engineering practices and support SOC 2 Type II evidence, audit readiness, and remediation.
- Senior-level backend engineering capability to independently design, ship, test, debug, and maintain production services and application features.
- Strong Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript proficiency, including API development, asynchronous programming, automated testing, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience designing data models and reliable background jobs, including safe retries, idempotency, failure recovery, and performance optimization.
- Ability to work across backend and frontend systems and learn unfamiliar parts of an application stack.
- Command-line scripting proficiency and experience with application performance monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Sentry, or Kibana.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery planning, data integrity, and availability during emergencies.
- Previous experience working remotely is required.
- Nice to have: React, Mongoose, Kubernetes, Argo CD, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Cloudflare DNS, Workers, Zero Trust/WARP, observability tools, or LLM engineering and RAG experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure across AWS and Cloudflare for scalability, reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Design, build, test, and maintain backend services, APIs, background workflows, and production application features using Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Own engineering initiatives from requirements clarification and technical design through implementation, deployment, production validation, and maintenance.
- Contribute across dashboards, public APIs, legacy and BullMQ workers, and frontend components to deliver customer-facing solutions.
- Design and optimize data models, API contracts, asynchronous processing, and failure-handling mechanisms.
- Maintain Redis and MongoDB environments, including configuration, monitoring, query optimization, backups, and data availability.
- Improve deployment and release management with automation, repeatable workflows, safe rollouts, and reliable rollback procedures.
- Strengthen development environments, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code quality checks, security controls, and release readiness.
- Support SOC 2 Type II compliance by maintaining technical controls, managing access and vulnerabilities, documenting evidence, supporting audits, and remediating findings.
- Contribute to incident response, post-incident reviews, observability, disaster recovery planning, documentation, code reviews, and colleague mentoring.
