Requirements
- Demonstrate exceptional visual product design skills, including layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and attention to detail.
- Show a track record of designing and shipping software people rely on, and explain design decisions and results or lessons learned.
- Use AI tools to explore ideas, accelerate design work, and build working prototypes.
- Understand agentic design, including how to communicate AI activity, handle uncertainty and errors, and keep people in control.
- Have experience working with design systems, contributing components, and considering how systems scale across products and teams.
- Show ownership of substantial product areas and the ability to work with product managers and engineers with limited oversight.
- Be able to learn unfamiliar domains quickly and use research, experimentation, and feedback to guide design decisions.
- Be reliably available for collaboration Monday through Friday, 10am to 2pm ET.
- Nice to have: experience designing and shipping AI-powered products, particularly agentic workflows.
- Nice to have: experience with investing, finance, or insurance products.
- Nice to have: experience leading a design system initiative or major product redesign.
- Nice to have: working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and React, or comfort using front-end AI tools.
Responsibilities
- Shape new features with a PM and engineering lead, from early ideas through tradeoffs and a build plan.
- Design how Nucleus communicates progress, handles uncertainty or mistakes, and brings a person back into the loop when it takes action for advisors.
- Turn complex investment risk, portfolio analysis, and insurance coverage topics into clear visuals.
- Build and maintain reusable design components, patterns, and documentation for consistent products and reliable foundations for engineers and AI tools.
- Prototype ideas quickly with AI-powered tools, explore approaches, and learn before committing to a direction.
- Work with engineering through implementation, review what is built, and refine details before shipping.
- Share learnings and create reusable AI workflows that help improve how the team works.
