Required Skills

Requirements

  • Have 3+ years in sales development.
  • Demonstrate a consistent record of generating qualified pipeline and meeting or exceeding quota.
  • Be able to run discovery conversations and uncover business pain, not simply book meetings.
  • Write cold emails that earn replies.
  • Have strong phone presence and comfort with high-volume cold calling.
  • Have working command of CRM and outreach tooling such as HubSpot.
  • Research accounts and personalize outreach at volume.
  • Bring sufficient business acumen to hold substantive conversations with founders or operators.
  • Show resilience, self-direction, and coachability.
  • Preferred: experience selling into ecommerce, DTC, direct response, payments, or SaaS.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Shopify, WooCommerce, ClickFunnels, Checkout Champ, Konnektive, Sticky.io, or similar platforms.
  • Preferred: experience selling to founder-led businesses, understanding of high-risk merchant categories, or experience building outbound motions.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain target account lists across DTC verticals, including nutraceuticals, supplements, skincare, clothing, accessories, and subscription or continuity offers.
  • Prospect merchants with $150K+ in monthly revenue through cold calls, email, LinkedIn, SMS, and industry communities.
  • Research each account’s offer type, funnel structure, checkout stack, ad channels, and visible operational pain before outreach.
  • Test, measure, and iterate on messaging, sequences, and channel mix.
  • Run first discovery conversations and qualify merchants on volume, business model, current stack, processing setup, growth constraints, timing, and decision process.
  • Diagnose merchant pain including declined transactions, chargeback exposure, checkout conversion loss, stockouts, fulfillment breakdowns, and fragmented tooling.
  • Document discovery findings for Account Executives and disqualify quickly when Phoenix is not a fit.
  • Develop command of direct response commerce and explain how Phoenix’s storefront, checkout, payments, and operations layers address merchant problems.
  • Bring competitive and market intelligence to Sales, Marketing, and Product.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data, report on activity and conversion rates, and partner with Account Executives on account strategy and hand-offs.
