Requirements
- Have 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including experience at the Controller level or above.
- Bring a strong technical accounting foundation, including GAAP, close processes, and internal controls.
- Apply strategic financial acumen to connect financial data with business strategy.
- Offer a solutions-first approach and propose fixes, not just identify problems.
- Be confident and diplomatic when challenging the CEO or leadership based on financial data.
- Be comfortable owning both financial details and strategy in a lean, fast-moving environment.
- Consumer products, CPG, or similar product-based business experience is a strong plus.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred, but equivalent experience is acceptable.
- Communicate financial complexity clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Own the month-end and year-end close process and ensure accurate, timely, audit-ready financial statements.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, payroll coordination, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Build and maintain rolling budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models.
- Partner with the CEO on strategic and operational decisions, providing financial analysis and a point of view.
- Identify financial risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities, and recommend solutions.
- Challenge assumptions and decisions when the numbers do not support them.
- Oversee compliance, tax filings, and relationships with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions.
- Develop dashboards and reports covering margins, cash position, and unit economics.
- Support pricing, vendor, and cost-structure decisions with financial analysis.
- Build scalable financial processes and systems as the company grows.
