Requirements
- Have led engineering through large-scale changes in direction, not just growth.
- Have shipped software using AI tools within the last 12 months.
- Bring a special talent for collaboration and improving executive teams.
- Be interested in both shaping strategy and executing it.
- Have worked at a larger company and understand what breaks as companies scale, while bringing early-stage-startup risk tolerance.
- Be comfortable with uncertainty, rapid change, and shaping new bets toward product-market fit.
- Have led distributed teams and communicate well in writing and in person.
- Care about developer tools and have good taste in them; Honeycomb experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
Responsibilities
- Shape views on product, technology, and market direction and bring them to product, the CEO, and the executive team.
- Work with executive peers to establish alignment around a shared direction.
- Explain engineering direction clearly to engineers, managers, executives, and the wider company.
- Lead managers, directors, and individual contributors toward the organization’s biggest opportunities.
- Adjust the engineering organization’s structure, goals, and ways of working to improve effectiveness.
- Provide technical leadership through changes in AI and observability.
