Requirements
- At least eight years of experience building and operating software systems; ten or more years is preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading significant engineering initiatives from conception through production.
- Experience developing web applications and backend services, particularly with Next.js, JavaScript or TypeScript, and Golang; equivalent experience with other modern technologies is also valuable.
- Knowledge of relational databases, data engineering, schema design, query optimization, migrations, and data quality and integrity.
- Experience with dbt, Snowflake, and PostgreSQL is particularly relevant.
- Proficiency with AI-powered development tools or coding agents, including independently verifying outputs and maintaining responsibility for delivered code.
- Strong foundation in designing secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable systems across applications, services, APIs, data platforms, and integrations.
- Experience with automated testing, continuous integration and delivery, deployment automation, observability, containerization, production debugging, and secure software development.
- Ability to identify vulnerabilities and technical risks and improve system resilience.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions, guide engineering teams, conduct code and architecture reviews, and mentor engineers.
- Must be based in the United States and eligible for employment under applicable requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex software initiatives from understanding user needs through architecture, implementation, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement.
- Translate ambiguous requirements into technical plans that balance business priorities, engineering constraints, maintainability, and delivery timelines.
- Design, build, and evolve web applications, backend services, APIs, MCP servers and integrations, data pipelines, and platform services.
- Develop and maintain data-driven systems using databases, data pipelines, and enterprise integrations.
- Integrate AI tools and coding agents across research, implementation, testing, documentation, and operational analysis.
- Review and validate AI-assisted outputs for correctness, reliability, security, and performance.
- Lead architecture and code reviews and establish standards for testing, CI/CD, deployment automation, observability, and containerization.
- Improve reliability through debugging, root cause analysis, performance optimization, and production monitoring.
- Partner with product, design, data, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
- Shape engineering roadmaps and platform strategy, and mentor engineers across the organization.
