Requirements
- Have 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Have proven experience designing, implementing, and deploying long-term initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
- Bring strong full-stack development experience; React and TypeScript on the front end and Java or Kotlin on the back end are ideal.
- Understand engineering best practices, continuous integration, and incremental delivery.
- Have expertise designing and scaling APIs and the services behind them.
- Be comfortable using data insights and user research to make the case for product improvements.
- Familiarity with GraphQL is preferred.
- Fluency in HTML, CSS, and related web technologies is preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in social impact or mission-driven work is preferred.
- Strong design and user experience sensibilities are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product, design, data, and operations colleagues across every stage of product development.
- Envision and build capabilities that help nonprofit partners arrange emergency housing for the people they serve.
- Develop tools that expand the supply of free or discounted housing and support donation efforts.
- Work with engineering and data teammates to break longer-term projects into clear, deliverable milestones.
- Use data insights and research to identify opportunities for improvement and advocate for them.
- Ramp up quickly in large, unfamiliar codebases to deliver program-specific features within an established product ecosystem.
- Adapt responsibilities in response to emerging global needs.
