Requirements
- Have at least 2 years of hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL databases, including installation, configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and user management.
- Have at least 2 years of experience with relational database technologies, including PostgreSQL, Oracle, Db2, and SQL.
- Demonstrate experience writing, troubleshooting, and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
- Have at least 2 years of experience with database backup and recovery, security administration, scripting, and automation.
- Understand database modernization and migration, including schema conversion, data validation, testing, troubleshooting, and legacy system integration.
- Understand database security controls, auditing, encryption, access management, and secure administration.
- Have at least 2 years of experience working in Agile environments, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and production support.
- Hold a valid CompTIA Security+ certification.
- Have proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Be able to perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Be able to follow runbooks, operational standards, change-management processes, and escalation procedures.
- Federal government, Department of Defense, or other mission-critical government environment experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, administer, and maintain enterprise database environments supporting federal systems.
- Install, configure, monitor, and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and user management.
- Evaluate legacy mainframe and distributed data models for migration into modernized database environments.
- Perform schema conversion, data migration, validation, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation support.
- Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
- Manage database users and permissions and apply security controls, auditing, and encryption.
- Maintain backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions to protect data and minimize downtime.
- Develop scripts and automation tools and document database policies, procedures, and standards.
- Investigate database incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and coordinate resolution with technical teams.
- Participate in Agile delivery activities, production support, and change-management processes.
