Requirements
- Have 5+ years of experience building and operating distributed systems in production.
- Have experience with large-scale data platforms or high-throughput systems.
- Understand distributed systems fundamentals, including sharding, replication, consistency, and partition tolerance.
- Be able to profile, diagnose, and fix performance bottlenecks across the stack.
- Have experience with data pipeline architecture, real-time processing, or database internals.
- Have experience building observable systems with comprehensive monitoring and alerting.
- Preferred: Experience with search platforms such as Vespa, Elasticsearch, or Solr, or similar large-scale data systems.
- Preferred: Experience with Kubernetes, CRDs, and infrastructure as code.
- Preferred: Background in information retrieval, ranking systems, or recommendation engines.
- Preferred: Familiarity with hybrid lexical and vector search approaches.
- Preferred: Experience with JVM-based systems and tuning.
Responsibilities
- Architect and optimize infrastructure handling billions of documents and hundreds of queries per second.
- Drive migration from legacy systems to modern architecture while ensuring zero downtime and improved performance.
- Establish monitoring, testing, and deployment practices to identify issues before they affect customers.
- Profile and tune systems from the infrastructure to the application level, balancing cost and performance.
