Requirements
- Have 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer, or an advanced degree with no relevant experience.
- Have a bachelor's degree; in lieu of a degree, 5+ years of relevant experience may suffice.
- Have experience developing in Java Spring Boot.
- Have cloud experience; AWS is preferred.
- Be able to understand existing designs and technology choices and make appropriate adjustments.
- Be able to share relevant information, including difficult task-level trade-offs that affect the product.
- Work productively on cross-functional teams with a collaborative approach.
- Nice to have: experience with payments or fintech.
- Nice to have: experience with ETL processes or data migration.
- Nice to have: experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or AWS Step Functions.
- Nice to have: exposure to Spark, Iceberg, or AWS Glue.
Responsibilities
- Own and contribute to the migration data platform, supporting customer data movement from external issuers into Marqeta's systems at scale.
- Build and maintain environment provisioning automation, including orchestration flows for infrastructure, programs, and sandbox environments.
- Support sandbox and simulation services for integration testing, payment network transaction simulation, and setup validation.
- Use workflow orchestration tooling such as Airflow and AWS Step Functions to connect multi-step processes and API-driven pipelines.
- Recommend and implement team process improvements.
- Participate in planning, on-call rotations, bug triage, and metrics review.
- Help ensure products are secure and compliant.
