Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of technical experience in data analysis, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bring advanced Python/PySpark expertise, including experience optimizing and refactoring production code.
  • Have advanced Databricks experience, including Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, scheduled jobs/workflows, and service principal authentication.
  • Have experience building production data pipelines with enforced schemas, validation controls, structured error logging, and operational reliability.
  • Have advanced SQL skills, including stored procedures and integration with SQL Server systems of record.
  • Understand Git-based engineering practices, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD.
  • Be able to translate requirements between business stakeholders, project management, and technical teams.
  • Have written and verbal communication skills, particularly for presenting to senior and executive leadership.
  • Demonstrate analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities and the capacity to work independently on complex assignments.
  • Be willing to learn and become proficient across multiple systems, policies, tools, and business processes.
  • Commit to remaining in the position for at least 12 months before applying for other internal opportunities.
  • Preferred: advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • Preferred: experience with ETL and orchestration technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, dbt, Delta Live Tables, or Lakeflow.
  • Preferred: experience with data quality frameworks, pipeline monitoring, alerting, SLAs, and incident runbooks.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze internal and external data to solve business problems and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Develop and maintain data solutions using Python/PySpark, SQL, and Databricks.
  • Build and optimize production data pipelines with enforced schemas, validation gates, structured error logging, and operational controls.
  • Refactor and optimize Python/PySpark code for performance, maintainability, scalability, and reliability.
  • Design Databricks solutions using Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, scheduled jobs and workflows, and service principal authentication.
  • Develop SQL solutions, including stored procedure execution and read/write integration with SQL Server systems of record.
  • Apply Git-based practices, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Translate business and project requirements into technical solutions and coordinate across business, project management, and technical teams.
  • Improve orchestration, data quality, observability, and engineering practices as part of data engineering and analytics modernization.
  • Communicate findings, technical approaches, and recommendations to senior and executive leadership.
