Requirements
- Have 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Have experience managing accounting for a parent company with multiple legal entities.
- Have extensive experience in the DTC/e-commerce sector.
- Have direct experience managing, training, and reviewing a Bookkeeper or Junior Accountant.
- Demonstrate high proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
- Have advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Have practical experience using AI tools such as Claude Code to improve processes and build workflows.
- Be familiar with multi-state sales tax nexus, intercompany eliminations, landing costs, and multi-warehouse inventory valuations.
- Be willing to overlap at least 4+ EST hours if hired offshore.
Responsibilities
- Lead the transition of accounting functions from the external agency to an in-house operation.
- Establish financial controls, workflows, and scalable accounting architecture.
- Oversee accounting across brands and legal entities, including intercompany transactions, shared expenses, and payment allocations.
- Manage, coach, and review the work of an internal Bookkeeper; audit daily bookkeeping and resolve discrepancies.
- Reconcile e-commerce inventory tracking, COGS, Shopify sales, and payment processors such as Stripe and PayPal.
- Own the month-end close and deliver GAAP financial statements by entity, brand, and consolidated group.
- Use AI tools such as Claude Code to build financial dashboards, improve reporting speed, and automate data workflows.
