Requirements

  • Bring 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close.
  • Have experience operating as a Controller, Assistant Controller, senior Accounting Manager, or equivalent accounting leader.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of accrual accounting, general ledger accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Bring experience with revenue accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial controls.
  • Use sound accounting judgment and independently research, reach, and document accounting conclusions.
  • Have experience preparing a company for audit and working directly with auditors.
  • Bring experience with cash management, banking, treasury, payments, or other financial operations.
  • Be comfortable with substantial transaction volume and complex reconciliation requirements.
  • Have advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including building structured, auditable financial analyses and reconciliations.
  • Have experience using modern accounting and finance systems; familiarity with Rillet and Ramp is a plus.
  • Show a track record of improving processes and automating recurring financial work.
  • Maintain strong documentation habits and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Be able to work independently, take ownership, and exercise judgment about when to escalate issues.
  • Communicate clearly and directly, and be comfortable working with a CEO and external or fractional CFO.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly and annual financial close, general ledger, accounting judgments, revenue accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain accurate books, balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, accounting policies, and audit-ready records.
  • Establish and manage reconciliation processes connecting bank accounts, payment providers, program funds, AR/AP sub-ledgers, and the general ledger.
  • Oversee billing, invoicing, collections, cash application, AR aging, vendor bills, expense classification, and AP cutoff.
  • Maintain financial oversight of program funds from receipt through disbursement, reconciliation, and program closeout.
  • Oversee company cash, banking operations, account administration, authorized transfers, cash visibility, and controls around movement of funds.
  • Maintain financial controls, approval and access controls, audit preparation, and operational tax-compliance workflows.
  • Administer Rillet and other finance systems; improve integrations, reporting, documentation, and financial workflows.
  • Automate recurring reconciliation, reporting, invoicing, collections, balance-monitoring, and other financial processes where practical.
  • Partner with the CEO, fractional CFO, Program Management, Engineering, Business Operations, and other teams on financial operations and controls.
