Requirements
- Have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Have 5+ years of relevant experience in internal controls, SOX/ICFR, internal audit, public accounting, financial controls, risk management, or related control testing.
- Understand internal controls over financial reporting and control testing concepts.
- Have working knowledge of SOX, ICFR, and the COSO framework.
- Be familiar with SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports, CUECs, ITGCs, and business process controls.
- Be able to translate control or assurance gaps into practical, risk-based testing procedures.
- Have experience testing internal controls, evaluating evidence, conducting sample-based testing where applicable, analyzing exceptions, and preparing testing workpapers.
- Be able to distinguish missing controls, missing evidence, insufficient testing, and gaps in audit or assurance coverage.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess potential financial reporting impacts and develop supported conclusions.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to work across partner and internal teams, management, and auditors.
- Be able to independently manage multiple partner control assessments and testing assignments within established timelines.
- Have exceptional attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other control documentation and testing tools.
- Experience with business process control testing, alternative control procedures, SOC reports, CUEC assessments, or ITGC audit results is preferred.
- Experience in fintech, Banking-as-a-Service, banking, or financial services is preferred; working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting concepts is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Document partner controls relevant to financial reporting and map them to the Partner ICFR Framework.
- Maintain partner control inventories, alternative testing documentation, evidence, gap trackers, and remediation records.
- Review control and assurance gaps and identify the specific control or control objective requiring targeted testing.
- Develop and execute risk-based alternative control testing procedures in accordance with approved methodologies.
- Perform targeted testing of identified CUEC gaps and conduct control walkthroughs as needed.
- Obtain and evaluate evidence supporting control design and operating effectiveness, validating populations and samples when required.
- Prepare testing workpapers documenting the control, testing period, population, evidence, testing attributes, results, exceptions, and preliminary conclusions.
- Identify deficiencies, missing evidence, testing exceptions, and insufficient support, and escalate concerns to Financial Controls leadership.
- Track remediation of testing exceptions and perform follow-up testing as assigned.
- Coordinate with Partner Risk and Internal Control Testing teams, and communicate testing status, remediation progress, and potential financial reporting impacts.
