Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or have an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Have 5+ years of experience in internal controls, SOX/ICFR, internal audit, public accounting, financial controls, risk management, or related control testing.
  • Understand internal controls over financial reporting and control testing methodologies.
  • Have working knowledge of SOX, ICFR, and the COSO framework.
  • Be familiar with SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports, CUECs, IT General Controls, and business process controls.
  • Translate control or assurance gaps into practical, risk-based testing procedures.
  • Have experience evaluating evidence, performing sample-based testing, analyzing exceptions, and preparing testing workpapers.
  • Distinguish between missing controls, missing evidence, insufficient testing, and gaps in audit or assurance coverage.
  • Assess control issues, potential financial reporting impacts, and preliminary conclusions using analytical judgment.
  • Manage multiple control assessments and testing assignments independently while meeting deadlines.
  • Use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other documentation and testing tools.
  • Preferred experience includes business process control testing, alternative control procedures, SOC reports, CUEC assessments, or ITGC audit results.
  • Fintech, Banking-as-a-Service, banking, or financial services experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Document partner controls relevant to internal controls over financial reporting and map them to the applicable partner ICFR framework.
  • Maintain control inventories, testing documentation, evidence repositories, gap trackers, and remediation records.
  • Review control and assurance gaps and determine the control or control objective requiring targeted testing.
  • Develop and execute alternative control testing procedures based on approved methodologies and identified financial reporting risks.
  • Test identified Complementary User Entity Control (CUEC) gaps and conduct control walkthroughs when needed.
  • Evaluate evidence supporting control design and operating effectiveness, including testing populations and sample selections where applicable.
  • Prepare workpapers documenting controls tested, testing periods, populations, evidence, results, exceptions, remediation, and preliminary conclusions.
  • Identify control deficiencies, missing evidence, testing exceptions, or insufficient support and escalate issues.
  • Track remediation activities and perform follow-up testing as assigned.
  • Coordinate with Partner Risk and Internal Control Testing teams and communicate testing status, exceptions, remediation progress, and potential financial reporting impacts.
