Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Maintain an active CPA designation.
  • Have 7–10 years of accounting experience.
  • Have at least 2 years in a Client Lead, Manager, or team leadership position.
  • Demonstrate CPG accounting experience, including trade promotion accounting, inventory reconciliation, landed costs, and multi-channel COGS.
  • Demonstrate practitioner-level CPG accounting knowledge and the ability to review complex work, identify issues, and coach others.
  • Have deep working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Have experience with startup accounting complexities such as SAFEs, convertible instruments, ASC 606, and equity compensation.
  • Be able to manage a team and client portfolio while maintaining quality, responsiveness, and delivery standards.
  • Bring coaching and feedback experience, including developing junior accounting professionals.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills for senior client interactions and escalations.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Cin7, Shopify, and 3PL management systems is preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting at Manager level or outsourced accounting leadership is strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading teams in a fully remote professional services environment is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coach Client Leads on solution design, client management, delivery approaches, professional judgment, and execution across CPG engagements.
  • Review engagement approaches for technical risk, complexity, and consistency, especially trade promotion accounting, inventory, landed costs, and multi-channel revenue.
  • Serve as the first escalation point for delivery challenges, CPG-specific technical questions, capacity issues, and high-stakes client situations.
  • Ensure client deliverables meet established quality and professional standards before reaching clients.
  • Conduct performance reviews and career development conversations, providing actionable coaching and feedback.
  • Identify CPG accounting capability gaps and address them through coaching, training, cross-training, or resourcing decisions.
  • Balance team workloads around month-end close peaks, seasonal demand cycles, and coverage risks.
  • Maintain documentation and cross-training practices to reduce dependence on individual team members.
  • Maintain a limited CPG-focused client book and engage directly with clients on complex onboarding, escalations, or high-stakes situations.
  • Partner with Standards and Technology teams to apply accounting standards and tools to CPG work, and communicate recurring delivery issues and improvement opportunities to senior leadership.
