Requirements

  • Have 8–10+ years of experience in technology or systems leadership.
  • Have 3–5+ years at a senior or director level owning technology strategy in a nonprofit, scaling organization, or comparable environment.
  • Demonstrate project management experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives through completion.
  • Bring vendor and contract management experience, including RFPs, procurement, consultant selection, and negotiations.
  • Have experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or Blackbaud, or equivalent systems, and cloud collaboration environments such as Microsoft 365.
  • Have hands-on experience evaluating and deploying organizational AI tools, including adoption, training, governance, and risk management.
  • Have working knowledge of data governance, cybersecurity policies and standards, access management, and incident response.
  • Be able to lead technology strategy across functions and translate technical decisions into actionable recommendations for non-technical leaders.
  • Be able to coordinate internal employees and external partners and present recommendations to senior leadership and Board-level stakeholders.
  • Preferred: experience with Claude or comparable AI platforms, enterprise-scale software deployments, and CISSP or PMP certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Own the multi-year technology strategy and roadmap, translating organizational growth objectives into a systems and infrastructure plan.
  • Advise executive leadership on technology investments, implementations, priorities, and trade-offs.
  • Manage technology budgets across vendors, licenses, staffing, infrastructure, and strategic projects.
  • Establish standards for technology evaluation, procurement, implementation, governance, and data practices.
  • Report on technology performance, risks, priorities, and roadmap progress to senior leadership and the Board when appropriate.
  • Advise Program and Development leaders on data governance, CRM strategy, cybersecurity, and technology solutions.
  • Define cybersecurity policies and oversee training, access management, security, and incident response expectations.
  • Manage external IT providers, technology vendors, consultants, and partners; lead RFPs, selection, negotiations, and procurement.
  • Oversee IT infrastructure and support, including cloud collaboration environments, hardware, access management, and business continuity.
  • Lead responsible AI adoption, training, change management, usage policies, and risk guardrails; coach direct reports and lead organizational change.
