Requirements
- Have 5+ years of professional experience in software or data engineering.
- Bring strong software development experience with Java and/or Python.
- Have experience designing, building, and scaling batch and streaming or event-driven data pipelines using technologies such as Apache Spark, Athena, Trino, or Presto.
- Have hands-on experience building data lake solutions using technologies or formats such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake, with knowledge of data reliability and schema management.
- Have experience with distributed systems, scalable architectures, and microservices.
- Have experience with modern cloud environments and production engineering practices; AWS experience is particularly valuable.
- Be familiar with CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, software deployment, and orchestration systems.
- Have debugging and incident-resolution skills, including identifying root causes and implementing sustainable improvements.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and continuously improve engineering practices.
- Be able to collaborate across engineering, product, and other teams, and mentor colleagues.
- Experience with Java Spring Boot and Airflow is an advantage.
- Contributions to technical blogs, GitHub repositories, or open-source projects are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, architect, develop, and maintain backend systems for card network transactions, settlement, and financial data processing.
- Build and operate batch and event-driven data pipelines for high-volume transaction and card network data.
- Develop digital wallet tokenization solutions using platforms such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Build and improve systems for chargebacks, disputes, ACH transfers, ATM networks, credit processing, and 3DS access control.
- Deliver engineering projects from ideation through production and make technical trade-offs amid ambiguous requirements.
- Design data lake and distributed processing solutions with data quality, schema integrity, and scalability.
- Collaborate with engineers, Product Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to scope, prioritize, estimate, and deliver capabilities.
- Contribute to DevOps and infrastructure initiatives focused on scalability, resilience, cloud infrastructure, and global availability.
- Diagnose production incidents, identify root causes, participate in on-call coverage, and improve system reliability.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to code quality, testing practices, and collaborative problem-solving.
