Requirements

  • Have hands-on experience personally managing a monthly or quarterly sales commission process from beginning to end.
  • Understand sales compensation mechanics and translate plan rules into accurate commission payouts.
  • Have advanced proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets, including data reconciliation and analysis.
  • Be able to investigate discrepancies across multiple systems and independently identify root causes.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and proactively identify errors before they affect payouts.
  • Be able to own a recurring business-critical process with minimal supervision and consistent follow-through.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills for explaining commission calculations and resolving payout disputes.
  • Have reliable availability and coverage around commission-close periods.
  • Direct experience with Spiff is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a SaaS or high-growth technology environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting multiple sales roles, compensation plans, or commission structures is preferred.
  • Salesforce experience is an advantage; SQL or broader data-analysis skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own recurring monthly or quarterly commission cycles from source-data validation through final payout.
  • Administer compensation plans and commission logic, including quotas, attainment, rates, accelerators, bonuses, splits, and clawbacks.
  • Validate CRM and other source data and reconcile discrepancies before payouts are finalized.
  • Troubleshoot calculation errors, investigate unexpected results, and conduct quality assurance before each cycle closes.
  • Manage manual adjustments, exceptions, true-ups, and other non-standard commission scenarios.
  • Produce final commission outputs and reporting for Sales, Finance, and relevant business stakeholders.
  • Investigate commission questions and disputes from sales representatives and managers, and resolve issues accurately and fairly.
  • Maintain documentation, supporting records, and an auditable trail for commission activity.
  • Identify inefficient or fragile processes and recommend improvements to make commission operations more reliable and scalable.
