Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical), Engineering Technology, Physical Sciences, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience within an A/E/C, utility, EPC, or power delivery consulting environment.
  • 12+ years of progressive post-education experience in project management or senior technical leadership, preferably supporting power delivery, transmission and distribution, substation, or utility capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of the project delivery lifecycle in A/E/C and utility industries, including proposal development, project initiation, engineering coordination, procurement support, construction execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, business, and commercial skills, including project controls, financial performance, and risk management.
  • Proficiency in project assessments, schedule and cost evaluations, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
  • Experience engaging with executive leadership, utility clients, subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance, mentoring, and leadership to project staff while adhering to QA/QC, safety, and delivery standards.
  • Proficiency in technical writing, project documentation, office automation, and project management software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and SharePoint, scheduling tools, and Power Delivery PM platforms.
  • Experience managing review, approval, and coordination of discipline-specific deliverables, technical reports, scopes of work, and execution plans.
  • Willingness to support occasional travel to client sites, regional offices, and project locations.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA; project management certification such as PMP or CAP-M.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of large-scale utility infrastructure projects across transmission, distribution, and substation scopes.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, margins, KPIs, earned value, hours, expenses, risks, contingencies, and contractual compliance.
  • Develop stakeholder engagement and communication strategies and provide timely project status, risk, and performance reporting.
  • Support pursuit, initiation, and startup activities, including Go/No-Go decisions, commercial reviews, pricing, risk assessments, and mitigation planning.
  • Lead technical and constructability reviews and ensure adherence to QA/QC programs, utility standards, and project quality plans.
  • Mentor and coach project managers, engineers, and support staff, and provide performance leadership to assigned staff.
  • Maintain project management systems and governance documentation, including risk registers, project management plans, quality plans, safety plans, and communications plans.
  • Coordinate staffing, subcontracting, and specialty support with area managers, technical leads, and resource managers.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, unbilled revenue, cash flow, and invoicing with project accounting and finance teams.
  • Lead project recovery reviews and complete project closeout, including financial closeout, archiving, client acceptance, and lessons-learned workshops.
