Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
- At least 2 years designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for product surfaces used by multiple clients.
- Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, and React skills, with UX instincts.
- Fluency with HTML, CSS, and browser technologies, including the DOM, events, and platform APIs.
- A solid computer science foundation, including data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
- Experience with production systems at scale, load testing, and tracing.
- Experience investigating production performance regressions, including CPU hotspots and latency in high-throughput services.
- Experience on an on-call rotation for a production service and owning release cycles end to end.
- API development experience with Node, Bun, or another server framework.
- Experience building and integrating multi-client or white-label platforms, including geo-based routing and per-brand configuration.
- Experience with Kubernetes and operating services in containers.
- Comfort using the terminal, Git and GitHub or similar, and an editor of choice.
- Experience with Jest or Vitest and ExUnit, RSpec, or pytest.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve federated GraphQL schemas, including server-driven UI contracts for mobile and web clients.
- Classify breaking schema changes, coordinate migrations with iOS, Android, and web leads, and keep generated client models in sync.
- Develop and optimize GraphQL APIs, RPC endpoints, and SQL queries behind web surfaces.
- Build front-end applications and shared libraries with React and TypeScript.
- Partner with product and design to architect and ship customer-facing features.
- Use observability tooling and configure DataDog monitoring and alerts to diagnose issues and improve systems.
- Identify technical debt, production bottlenecks, and risks, and drive improvements to code quality and platform scalability.
- Mentor teammates through code review, pairing, and documentation.
- Write tests for features and bug fixes, and work with QA to strengthen automated testing pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
