Requirements
- Hold a BA/BS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Healthcare Informatics, or a related discipline.
- Have 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Have hands-on experience with conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling and dimensional or warehouse design, such as star schema, snowflake schema, or data vault.
- Have experience developing, testing, and deploying tables, views, and ETL/ELT pipelines into an enterprise or clinical data warehouse.
- Have direct Athena EMR data extraction experience, including Athena Dataview or comparable EMR reporting and extraction tools.
- Demonstrate strong SQL proficiency and hands-on Python experience querying, transforming, validating, and automating workflows with healthcare datasets.
- Have working knowledge of Git and GitHub for version control, code review, pull requests, documentation, and collaborative workflows.
- Have experience organizing disparate healthcare data sources into clean, standardized, documented structures for analytics and AI/ML.
- Be familiar with data governance practices, including data dictionaries, metadata management, lineage tracking, and data quality validation.
- Know healthcare data standards and coding systems such as ICD-10, CPT, and DRG, and be familiar with HEDIS, CMS, or NCQA quality measures; Medicare Advantage experience is preferred.
- Understand how AI/ML engines and analytics platforms consume structured data.
- Be able to explain data architecture and modeling decisions to clinical, technical, and operational stakeholders; experience with Excel and data visualization platforms is noted.
Responsibilities
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models for clinical, claims, pharmacy, and EMR data.
- Build, test, and deploy tables, views, and schemas to the clinical data warehouse.
- Mine, extract, and validate Athena EMR data through the Athena Dataview.
- Assess, cleanse, and organize data from claims, lab, pharmacy, EMR, and operational systems.
- Structure and document warehouse tables for AI, machine learning, and data science teams.
- Develop and maintain complex SQL, ETL/ELT logic, and stored procedures.
- Maintain data modeling standards, data dictionaries, naming conventions, and lineage documentation.
- Validate and monitor data accuracy, quality, and integrity across warehouse deployments.
- Gather stakeholder requirements and translate them into data models and technical specifications.
- Present data architecture, data model, and warehouse deployment recommendations to leadership and technical stakeholders.
