Requirements
- Have a High School Diploma or GED; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Have 1–2+ years of healthcare billing or collections experience.
- Have 1+ years of client-facing or customer service experience.
- Workers’ compensation billing and collections experience is preferred.
- Have an intermediate understanding of insurance payer/provider claims processing and related data requirements.
- Be proficient with basic office applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Be able to work independently without direct supervision and manage competing priorities.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate workers’ compensation claim payments using company software, systems, and tools.
- Determine whether medical providers were reimbursed in compliance with applicable state workers’ compensation fee schedules and PPO contracts.
- Research and obtain medical records, implant manufacturer invoices, and other supporting documentation.
- Submit hospital claims and supporting documentation to insurance companies.
- Follow up with payers by telephone to confirm receipt of claims and facilitate reimbursement.
- Prepare workers’ compensation initial bill packets or appeal letters and submit them with required supporting documentation.
