Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in security operations.
- At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or management capacity.
- Experience managing a Security Operations Center.
- Experience leading incident response programs.
- Strong technical knowledge of SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, firewalls, and vulnerability management platforms.
- Experience with regulatory and compliance requirements, including HIPAA, GDPR, and PCI DSS.
- Understanding of NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and risk-management capabilities.
- Leadership and people-development skills, including providing clear, timely, actionable feedback.
- Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to influence stakeholders across functions and levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in high-pressure, complex, or ambiguous environments.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and translate security priorities into business outcomes.
- Interest in security technologies, automation, AI, and AIOps, with ability to identify practical opportunities to improve security operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily Security Operations Center (SOC) operations, establishing processes, priorities, monitoring strategies, and operational standards.
- Oversee incident response and threat management, ensuring incidents are identified, contained, investigated, and resolved.
- Develop security monitoring, threat intelligence, and detection capabilities.
- Lead vulnerability management and prioritize remediation based on business and security risk.
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and operational controls.
- Manage security risk by balancing operational needs with longer-term security strategies.
- Assess AI and AIOps opportunities to improve automation, log ingestion, monitoring, and incident response.
- Build and develop the security operations team through hiring, coaching, feedback, goal-setting, and performance management.
- Set team objectives, remove roadblocks, and ensure delivery against priorities.
- Build stakeholder relationships and partner with organizational leaders on security initiatives and protective processes.
