Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in security, with a track record as the first or sole security leader at a startup-sized company.
- Demonstrable experience taking a company through SOC 2 or building a HIPAA program from scratch.
- Hands-on technical proficiency in AWS and web application security, including Terraform and WAF configuration.
- Proven experience securing consumer-facing products, covering identity security, MFA, and account recovery.
- Strong AI-first mindset with daily experience using LLMs and coding assistants in security workflows.
- Deep understanding of privacy and breach notification obligations (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.).
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of briefing executive teams during live incidents and explaining complex risk.
- Ability to work in a hands-on capacity, drafting policy and configuring controls directly.
Responsibilities
- Create a security ownership map and deliver a prioritized HIPAA/HITECH remediation roadmap.
- Drive SOC 2 readiness and formalize incident response processes.
- Run offensive security, including managing pentest firms and driving remediation with engineering teams.
- Own security review of third-party data flows, SaaS governance, and identity lifecycle policies.
- Apply AI tools for detection, log triage, automated evidence collection, and policy drafting.
- Extend security policies to AI tooling and model providers, focusing on data classification and acceptable use.
- Serve as the escalation point for security incidents and report on security posture to executive leadership.
