Requirements
- Have 3+ years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
- Have hands-on bare-metal experience, including provisioning and managing physical servers.
- Be familiar with PXE, IPMI/BMC, RAID, and NICs.
- Have experience working with colocation or dedicated-server providers and debugging hardware versus software issues.
- Have deep Linux fundamentals, including systemd, networking, storage, and performance tuning.
- Have experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code such as Ansible, Terraform, Salt, or Nix.
- Have scripting or programming ability in Python, Go, Bash, or similar.
- Apply a security mindset to access, blast radius, and secrets.
- Nice to have: Rust experience or interest in reading and debugging Rust services.
- Nice to have: high-performance networking or low-latency systems experience.
- Nice to have: familiarity with ClickHouse, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Nice to have: experience at a high-scale B2B infrastructure company.
Responsibilities
- Automate server provisioning, OS installation, configuration, hardware validation, and decommissioning.
- Build and maintain tooling engineers use to interact with the server fleet.
- Standardize software build and deployment to machines, including CI pipelines, artifacts, deployment tooling, and rollbacks.
- Execute security roadmap items, including SSO-integrated access, jump hosts, secrets management, least-privilege access, and audit trails.
- Analyze fleet costs, compare providers, assess cost per workload, and make hardware refresh recommendations.
- Improve observability for owned infrastructure and participate in on-call and incident response.
- Write runbooks and documentation for the remote team.
