Requirements
- Bring 8–10+ years of engineering experience.
- Have 3+ years of experience managing senior and staff engineers.
- Demonstrate deep backend engineering expertise and a foundation in building and scaling backend systems.
- Have experience leading teams delivering across multiple product lines and paradigms.
- Have experience with synchronous API services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Have experience with batch and event-driven ETL pipelines using Python and Airflow.
- Maintain high standards for system reliability and on-call hygiene; drive blameless post-mortems and effective incident response.
- Use AI/ML to improve team velocity, drive automation, and reduce manual review rates.
- Be able to engage directly with enterprise customers and compliance officers and explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Nice to have experience with identity verification, AML/BSA compliance, or financial services and fintech regulations.
- Nice to have experience integrating identity verification vendors or sanctions screening providers.
Responsibilities
- Own the identity verification lifecycle, from CIP checks at account opening through ongoing CDD and customer risk monitoring.
- Build and operate systems that enforce KYC obligations, including identity verification, risk-based due diligence, and event-driven re-verification.
- Drive AI-first automation across KYC/KYB decisioning, sanctions screening, and Red Flag rule evaluation.
- Lead and mentor the engineering team, improving delivery velocity and system reliability through workflows and automation.
- Lead customer and regulatory escalations, translating compliance scenarios into scalable platform improvements.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Product, Operations, and Legal on the platform roadmap and identity verification strategy.
