Requirements

  • Have several years of experience working in the substance use treatment field.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of engagement services, substance use, mental health services, and community resources.
  • Have experience with and understanding of recovery and the stages of change.
  • Have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a safe driving record.
  • Be willing to transport clients in a personal vehicle.
  • Provide proof of car insurance verifying minimum coverage of $100,000/$300,000/$100,000.
  • Have strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Have PC skills and demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and the internet.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Complete the process to become fully certified as an MDFR Specialist, which typically lasts 9–12 months, and participate in ongoing quality assurance activities after certification.
  • Comply with current State of Connecticut and federal health and vaccine requirements and attend annual Conflict of Interest training.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills and expertise working with Hispanic youth and families are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Multidimensional Family Recovery services weekly in client homes, at DCF, or in other community locations.
  • Work with the whole family to support the client’s recovery from substance use and increase the child’s well-being.
  • Help clients identify an appropriate level of care and engage in and remain in substance use and mental health treatment.
  • Help clients develop recovery and parenting plans.
  • Encourage and guide clients in communication with family members.
  • Support clients in completing a parenting class and demonstrating their ability to provide a healthy environment for the child.
  • Participate in DCF case consultation and service planning meetings.
