Requirements
- Have 4+ years of software development experience, including ownership of complex backend systems.
- Have backend programming experience in Python or Go.
- Have experience in Platform Engineering or building common platform components.
- Have a track record of breaking large projects into milestones and delivering on time.
- Have experience mentoring engineers through code review and design review.
- Have strong Linux and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Be comfortable aligning technical work with product priorities across teams.
- Have experience incorporating AI into a development workflow and authoring AI-enhanced tooling.
- Authentication and authorization systems experience, such as OAuth, SSO, or role-based access control, is a plus.
- Kubernetes and container orchestration experience is a plus.
- Network management or infrastructure software experience, such as NetBox, is a plus.
- Open-source contributions or project involvement are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Act as the team's go-to expert for a core Foundations area, such as identity, authentication, or access control.
- Design and build backend platform services in collaboration with other teams.
- Own delivery of complex Foundations project components from design through production.
- Break large projects into milestones and communicate risk and status early.
- Investigate and fix difficult technical problems.
- Identify technical debt and risk before they grow into larger business problems.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, code review, and design review.
- Communicate technical decisions in design documents and team meetings.
- Partner with Product and engineering teams to align technical work with priorities.
