Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in labor and employee relations.
- At least 2 years of collective bargaining experience; chief spokesperson experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading contract interpretation, implementation, and grievance processing.
- Experience maintaining effective working relationships with union organizations and management.
- Working knowledge of employment laws including FLSA, FMLA, NLRA, EEOC, Workers’ Compensation, ADA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
- Strong internal and external consulting, facilitation, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to build trust and influence stakeholders across organizational levels.
- Analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities to navigate sensitive situations.
- Juris Doctorate or Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional HR certification such as PHR or SPHR preferred.
- Familiarity with The Joint Commission (TJC) principles and practices preferred.
Responsibilities
- Advise HR, leaders, and managers on labor and employee relations matters, including prevention strategies.
- Serve as chief negotiator in collective bargaining with represented employee groups.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with leadership, external labor partners, and bargaining units.
- Administer collective bargaining agreements and provide interpretation to management and employees.
- Lead or support grievance processing, contract implementation, and resolution of labor issues.
- Provide guidance on performance management and employee relations within unionized environments.
- Facilitate communication between management and unions to promote effective working relationships.
- Apply relevant employment laws and regulations when advising on workplace matters.
- Support employment-related investigations and ensure labor matters are handled appropriately.
