Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on distributed systems and high-concurrency production environments.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java or Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Strong command of modern API design including REST, gRPC, and Protobuf.
- Deep hands-on experience with Kafka, including internal mechanics, partition strategies, and delivery guarantees.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve bottlenecks in asynchronous messaging systems.
- Experience implementing idempotency, distributed caching, and exactly-once processing patterns.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and AWS cloud-native infrastructure.
- Strong experience with production reliability, including on-call support and triaging distributed system failures.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across teams.
- Track record of defining and maintaining SLAs, latency budgets, and throughput targets.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale distributed systems using Kotlin, Java, and Spring Boot for a live real-money trading platform.
- Own the development and optimization of high-throughput event pipelines using Kafka.
- Build and tune low-latency data layers across Postgres, Redis, and Redis PubSub.
- Implement and enforce resilience patterns including backpressure, circuit breaking, and idempotent retry logic.
- Solve the fan-out problem for real-time live market updates across tens of thousands of concurrent sessions.
- Partner with leadership to align technical execution with business priorities and long-term platform strategy.
- Set engineering standards for observability, testing, and deployment through code reviews and documentation.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, design reviews, and feedback.
