Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Experience in a public company, high-growth technology company, or public accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven ability to review customer contracts and document technical revenue recognition positions in written memos.
- Experience improving or automating accounting processes, including hands-on work with ERP or revenue subledgers (e.g., NetSuite, Zuora, or RevPro).
- Direct experience owning SOX controls and supporting internal and external audits.
- Demonstrated experience leading, managing, or mentoring accountants.
- Strong written communication skills capable of explaining technical conclusions to non-accountants.
- Preferred: Active CPA license or CPA eligibility.
- Preferred: Big 4 or national public accounting experience.
- Preferred: Experience in hardware-plus-software or SaaS environments.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end contract review process to evaluate non-standard customer contracts and determine appropriate ASC 606 treatment.
- Document technical accounting positions in memos for auditors, leadership, and SEC-reporting scrutiny.
- Strategize and lead improvements to revenue systems, close activities, and control design to eliminate manual effort.
- Partner with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk during negotiations to advise on revenue timing, classification, and presentation.
- Design, rationalize, and optimize SOX controls and manage external audit relationships.
- Build AI-enabled routines for contract triage, memo drafting, and anomaly detection.
- Hire, develop, and lead an inclusive and high-performing team.
