Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading engineers or engineering teams.
- Recent hands-on technical involvement within the last 1–2 years (e.g., coding, PR reviews, architecture design).
- Current hands-on experience with native Android development using Kotlin and modern practices.
- Experience with AOSP, customized Android ROMs, rooted or kiosk-mode devices, and APK distribution.
- Experience building software for connected, managed, or remotely deployed devices.
- Experience managing and developing engineers, including hiring, performance management, and coaching.
- Understanding of physical device fleet constraints such as memory, storage, processing power, and intermittent connectivity.
- Experience with backend technologies such as Kotlin/JVM, Node.js, or serverless architectures.
- Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
- Experience managing blended teams of full-time employees and contractors.
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and React-based front-end development.
Responsibilities
- Own engineering outcomes across PatientPoint’s device product areas including field operations, exam-room technology, and waiting-room displays.
- Serve as the Engineering Manager for a mix of senior Engineering Leads and individual-contributor engineers, owning hiring, performance, and career growth.
- Stay close to the code by leading code reviews, contributing directly where needed, and guiding technical best practices.
- Champion AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices across team workflows and product capabilities like automated diagnostics.
- Coordinate priorities and dependencies across multiple concurrent product areas with varying tech stacks.
- Contribute to cross-org architecture discussions and represent device-fleet requirements in trade-off conversations.
- Manage a blended team of full-time and contract engineers, including both onshore and offshore resources.
