- Expert-level operation of robotic total stations and GNSS/GPS equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to establish, adjust, and maintain construction control networks.
- Hands-on experience with model-based layout and pulling points from 3D models.
- Working command of BIM coordination and VDC workflows.
- Proficiency with 3D laser scanning, field capture, registration, and point cloud QA.
- Track record in industrial retrofit work and live facility environments.
- Strong command of MEP systems, power distribution, structural, and process piping.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR.
- Ability to travel 60–75% of the time.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in construction management, surveying, civil engineering, or related field.
Responsibilities
- Own the construction layout function company-wide: procedures, accuracy standards, tolerances, deliverable formats, and documentation requirements.
- Establish and enforce control network standards, including primary and secondary control, benchmark protocols, and network adjustment.
- Define QA/QC for layout, including independent check procedures, tolerance verification, and error budgets.
- Lead, schedule, and develop a distributed team of field layout technicians and layout engineers.
- Personally lead layout on high-risk, high-complexity, or first-of-kind projects.
- Direct existing-conditions capture with 3D laser scanning and manage scan-to-BIM deliverables.
- Serve as the link between BIM/VDC and field execution to ensure models are layout-ready.
- Own the layout equipment fleet, including selection, calibration, and replacement planning.
