Requirements
- 3–6+ years of experience in security compliance, IT security, GRC, or a related field.
- Direct experience with HIPAA Security Rule requirements, Security Risk Assessments, and vendor or BAA risk reviews.
- Demonstrated ability to manage security calendars, coordinate stakeholders, and drive remediation to closure.
- Experience working with a fractional or contractor CISO or managed service providers.
- Ability to translate technical security risks and requirements into clear communications for leadership.
- Strong documentation, project management, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote startup environment.
- Experience preparing for or achieving SOC 2 or HITRUST certification (plus).
- Familiarity with compliance automation platforms such as Drata or Vanta (desirable).
- Experience with MDM, endpoint-security, and Google Workspace security controls.
- Familiarity with AI governance and security considerations (desirable).
Responsibilities
- Own the daily operation of the security program, including Security Risk Assessment cadence, penetration-test coordination, and remediation tracking.
- Draft and maintain security policies and procedures for leadership review.
- Lead vendor security assessments and Business Associate Agreement reviews.
- Monitor MDM and BYOD compliance and partner with IT on endpoint-security.
- Act as the day-to-day lead for incident and breach response.
- Support identity and access management improvements, including SSO and password manager deployment.
- Prepare recurring security and compliance reporting for leadership and board-level discussions.
- Evaluate and implement compliance-automation platforms to support SOC 2 or HITRUST readiness.
- Establish and maintain AI security guardrails for handling protected health information.
